17 Section 1. Section 233.062, Florida Statutes, is
18 amended to read:
19 233.062 Permitting study of the Bible and religion;
20 permitting brief meditation period; display of motto and
21 constitution.--
22 (1) The school board may install in the public schools
23 in the district a secular program of education including, but
24 not limited to, an objective study of the Bible and of
25 religion.
26 (2) The school board may provide that a brief period,
27 not to exceed 2 minutes, for the purpose of silent prayer or
28 meditation be set aside at the start of each school day or
29 each school week in the public schools in the district.
30 (3) The superintendent of schools in each school
31 district shall provide for the display in a prominent location

1 within each school under his or her supervision of the motto
2 of the United States of America, "IN GOD WE TRUST," on an
3 appropriately framed background with minimum dimensions of 11
4 inches by 14 inches.
5 (4) The superintendent of schools in each school
6 district may provide for the display in a prominent location
7 within each school under his or her supervision of the
8 Preamble to the Constitution of the United States
9 providing: "We the People of the United States, in Order to
10 form a more perfect Union, establish Justice, insure domestic
11 Tranquility, provide for the common defence, promote the
12 general Welfare, and secure the Blessings of Liberty to
13 ourselves and our Posterity, do ordain and establish this
14 Constitution for the United States of America." The display of
15 the Preamble to the Constitution of the United States, if
16 posted, shall be posted in a separate place from the display
17 of the national motto and shall be on an appropriately framed
18 background with minimum dimensions of 11 inches by 14 inches.
19 Section 2. This act shall take effect upon becoming a
20 law.
