2 An act relating to the Indian River County
3 Hospital District, Indian River County;
4 amending chapter 61-2275, Laws of Florida;
5 authorizing the board of trustees of the
6 district to hold regular meetings for the
7 transaction of business; providing an effective
8 date.

10 Be It Enacted by the Legislature of the State of Florida:
11
12 Section 1. Section 6 of chapter 61-2275, Laws of
13 Florida, is amended to read:
14 Section 6. The board of trustees shall hold regular
15 meetings not more than one (1) meeting each month for the
16 transaction of business according to a schedule arranged by
17 the board of trustees and shall convene in special sessions
18 when called by the chair Chairman of the board or by a
19 majority of the trustees of the board,; provided, that actions
20 taken at special meetings shall have the same force and effect
21 as if taken at a regular meeting, and; provided, further, that
22 no special meeting of said board shall be held until after a
23 public announcement is given 48 forty-eight (48) hours prior
24 to a special meeting, unless it is determined that an
25 emergency exists and that four (4) members of said board are
26 present at the special meeting or have filed, with the
27 presiding officer of said board, a written concurrence to the
28 convening of such special meeting for the purposes set forth
29 in the written concurrence. The required public announcement
30 shall be deemed to have been made when all radio and
31 television stations broadcasting from within the district and

1 when all newspapers having their main offices for publication
2 located within the district have been notified of the proposed
3 special meeting.
4 All meetings, whether regular or special, of said board
5 of trustees shall be open to the public, except that said
6 board may meet in executive session for the discussion of or
7 inquiry into matters relating to personnel, the medical staff,
8 or patients of a hospital, clinic, or nursing home of the
9 district, when, in the opinion of the trustees, the discussion
10 of or inquiry into such matters in a public meeting would not
11 serve the best interests of the personnel, medical staff, or
12 patients involved, or the interests of the district.
13 Section 2. This act shall take effect upon becoming a
14 law.
