  1                      A bill to be entitled

  2         An act relating to social-services benefits;

  3         allowing any court-ordered custodian of a minor

  4         child to receive benefits that are needed to

  5         properly care for the child; providing an

  6         effective date.

  8  Be It Enacted by the Legislature of the State of Florida:

  9

10         Section 1.  A person who by court order receives

11  custody of a minor child may receive food stamps, Aid for

12  Dependent Children, or any other social-services benefits if

13  the person can qualify for and prove that he or she needs the

14  benefits in order to properly care for the child.

15         Section 2.  This act shall take effect July 1, 2002.

18                          SENATE SUMMARY

19    Allows any court-ordered custodian of a minor child to
      receive food stamps, Aid for Dependent Children, or any
20    other social-services benefit that the custodian
      qualifies for and needs to properly care for the child.
