14 On page 93, lines 18-29, delete those lines

16 and insert:
17 1001.395 District school board members;
18 compensation.--
19 (1) Each member of the district school board shall
20 receive as salary the amount indicated, based on the
21 population of the member's county. In addition, compensation
22 shall be made for population increments over the minimum for
23 each population group, which shall be determined by
24 multiplying the population in excess of the minimum for the
25 group times the group rate. Laws which increase the base
26 salary herein provided shall contain provisions on no other
27 subject.

8 (2) Notwithstanding provisions of chapter 145 or this
9 chapter to the contrary, the annual salaries of district
10 school board members for 1993 and each year thereafter shall
11 be established at the same amounts as those members were paid
12 for fiscal year 1991-1992, adjusted by each annual increase
13 provided for in chapter 145. Any salary previously paid to
14 district school board members which was consistent with
15 chapter 145 and this section is hereby ratified and validated.
16 (3) As an alternative to the method of determining
17 compensation by population, a district school board may
18 conduct a referendum in which the voters determine whether to
19 authorize the board to determine the salary of its members. If
20 such a referendum adopts the alternative, the district school
21 board shall annually determine the salary of its members at
22 the first regular meeting following the organizational meeting
23 held pursuant to s. 1001.371. The proposed salary to be
24 adopted shall be noticed at the time of the meeting notice and
25 shall not be increased during the meeting. The salary adopted
26 by the district school board shall be in effect during the
27 succeeding 12 months.
