  1                         House Resolution

  2         A resolution recognizing the City of Coconut

  3         Creek as the home of Butterfly World, the

  4         world's largest butterfly habitat.

  5  

  6         WHEREAS, the City of Coconut Creek, Florida, has long

  7  been an advocate for conservation and environmental measures

  8  and is well-known for its lush landscaping and preservation of

  9  natural wildlife habitats, and

10         WHEREAS, the City of Coconut Creek is the proud home of

11  Butterfly World, one of Florida's leading tourist attractions,

12  which houses under 2.8 breathtaking acres of screened aviary

13  gardens more than five thousand spectacular butterflies from

14  around the world, including South and Central America, the

15  Philippines, Malaysia, Taiwan, and other Asian nations, and

16         WHEREAS, this unique, interactive habitat, featuring an

17  educational research laboratory, a museum, and botanical

18  gardens, showcases the world's most beautiful tropical plants

19  and is the largest center of its kind in the world, and

20         WHEREAS, the City of Coconut Creek and Butterfly World

21  are partners in promoting an active interest in the

22  environment and in the beauty of the natural world in which we

23  live, NOW, THEREFORE,

25  Be It Resolved by the House of Representatives of the State of

26  Florida:

28         That the City of Coconut Creek is hereby recognized as

29  home to the largest butterfly habitat in the world.
