16 insert:
17 Section 3. Subsection (3) and paragraph (a) of
18 subsection (5) of section 443.111, Florida Statutes, are
19 amended to read:
20 443.111 Payment of benefits.--
21 (3) WEEKLY BENEFIT AMOUNT.--
22 (a) An individual's "weekly benefit amount" is shall
23 be an amount equal to one twenty-sixth of the total wages for
24 insured work paid during that quarter of the base period in
25 which such total wages paid were the highest, but not less
26 than $32 or more than $275. This amount may also be cited as
27 the "base benefit amount."
28 (b) For fiscal year 2002-2003 only, with respect to
29 claims with benefit years beginning October 1, 2002, through
30 June 30, 2003, the weekly benefit amount is increased by an
31 amount equal to $25 or 15 January 1, 2000, through December

1 31, 2000, an additional 5 percent of the base weekly benefit
2 amount, whichever is greater, shall be added for each
3 compensable week the first 8 compensable weeks of benefits
4 paid, not to exceed $316 $288. This paragraph expires July 1,
5 2003.
6 (c) The Such weekly benefit amount, if not a multiple
7 of $1, is shall be rounded downward to the nearest full dollar
8 amount. The maximum weekly benefit amount in effect at the
9 time the claimant establishes an individual weekly benefit
10 amount is shall be the maximum benefit amount applicable
11 throughout the claimant's benefit year.
12 (5) DURATION OF BENEFITS.--
13 (a)1. Any otherwise eligible individual shall be
14 entitled during any benefit year to a total amount of benefits
15 equal to 25 percent of the total wages in the base period, not
16 to exceed $7,150. This amount may be cited as the "base amount
17 of benefits."
18 2. For fiscal year 2002-2003 only, with respect to
19 claims with benefit years beginning October 1, 2002, through
20 June 30, 2003, the total amount of benefits is increased by
21 January 1, 2000, through December 31, 2000, an additional
22 amount equal to $25 or 15 5 percent of the base weekly benefit
23 amount, whichever is greater, multiplied by the individual's
24 number of benefit weeks 8 shall be added to the calculated
25 total amount of benefits, the sum of which may not to exceed
26 $8,216 $7,254. For purposes of this subparagraph, an
27 individual's number of benefit weeks is calculated by dividing
28 the individual's base amount of benefits in subparagraph 1. by
29 the individual's base benefit amount in paragraph (3)(a). The
30 number of benefit weeks shall be computed to the third decimal
31 place and rounded to the second decimal place. This

1 subparagraph expires July 1, 2003.

10 whom such wages were paid has satisfied the conditions of this
11 chapter with respect to becoming an employer.
