12  for amendment (944096):

14         Senate Amendment 
15         On page 2, lines 5-23, delete those lines
16  
17  and insert:  
18         Section 2.  (1)  In the judicial circuits for which two
19  additional judicial offices are created by this act,
20  specifically the fifth, ninth, tenth, eleventh, and
21  seventeenth judicial circuits, one of the judicial offices
22  shall be filled by election pursuant to chapter 105, Florida
23  Statutes, and one shall be filled through appointment by the
24  Governor.
25         (2)  In the judicial circuits for which one additional
26  judicial office is created by this act, specifically the
27  sixth, seventh, eighth, twelfth, thirteenth, fifteenth,
28  eighteenth, and twentieth judicial circuits, the judicial
29  offices shall be filled by election pursuant chapter 105,
30  Florida Statutes.
31         (3)(a)  Candidates for those judicial offices filled by

 1  election shall qualify as provided in chapter 105, Florida
 2  Statutes, no earlier than noon on July 22, 2002, and no later
 3  than noon on July 26, 2002. Judges elected to office as
 4  provided in this section shall take office for a term
 5  beginning March 1, 2003, and expiring on the first Tuesday
 6  after the first Monday in January of the 6th year of the term
 7  following the date of election. For purposes of these judicial
 8  offices filled by election, a vacancy does not occur until
 9  March 1, 2003.
10         (b)  The judges appointed to judicial office by the
11  Governor as provided in this section shall take office for a
12  term beginning on March 1, 2003.
