2 A resolution requesting the United States
3 Senate vote to make permanent the tax relief in
4 the Economic Growth and Tax Relief
5 Reconciliation Act of 2001.

7 WHEREAS, H.R. 1836, the Economic Growth and Tax Relief
8 Reconciliation Act of 2001, was passed with bipartisan
9 support, and
10 WHEREAS, the bill granted much-needed tax relief for
11 all working families in Florida, and
12 WHEREAS, due to a clause in the act, the tax cuts
13 expire in the year 2010, and
14 WHEREAS, if the tax relief in H.R. 1836 is not made
15 permanent, it will, in the first year alone, amount to a
16 sudden and significant tax increase for middle-income American
17 families, and
18 WHEREAS, the United States House of Representatives
19 voted to make the tax cuts permanent by a vote of 229-198,
20 NOW, THEREFORE,

22 Be It Resolved by the House of Representatives of the State of
23 Florida:

25 That the House of Representatives of the State of
26 Florida expresses its will that our representatives in the
27 United States Senate support, work to pass, and vote in favor
28 of a bill to make permanent the tax relief in H.R. 1836, the
29 Economic Growth and Tax Relief Reconciliation Act of 2001.
