2	An act relating to property tax exemptions; creating s.
3	196.2003, F.S.; exempting certain portions of certain
4	private residential property used for certain purposes;
5	requiring annual application; providing an effective date.

7	Be It Enacted by the Legislature of the State of Florida:

9	Section 1. Section 196.2003, Florida Statutes, is created
10	to read:
11	196.2003 Private residential island property cistern
12	exemption.--That portion of a private residential property in an
13	island community upon which a cistern is located and used for
14	purposes of storing fresh water, reducing the need to draw water
15	from public aquifers, and serving as an important source of
16	water in the event of a hurricane or other natural disaster
17	shall be exempt. No exemption authorized pursuant to this
18	subsection shall be granted unless the owner applies to the
19	property appraiser on or before March 1 each year for such
20	exemption.
21	Section 2. This act shall take effect upon becoming a law.
