13         Senate Amendment (with title amendment) 
14         On page 9, line 2,

16  insert:  
17         Section 1.  Subsection (5) of section 626.869, Florida
18  Statutes, is amended to read:
19         626.869  License, adjusters.--
20         (5)(a)  Any person holding a license for 24 consecutive
21  months or longer and who engages in adjusting workers'
22  compensation insurance must, beginning in their birth month
23  and every 2 years thereafter, have completed 24 hours of
24  courses, 2 hours of which relate to ethics, in subjects
25  designed to inform the licensee regarding the current workers'
26  compensation laws of this state, so as to enable him or her to
27  engage in business as a workers' compensation insurance
28  adjuster fairly and without injury to the public and to adjust
29  all claims in accordance with the policy or contract and the
30  workers' compensation laws of this state.
31         (b)  Any individual holding a license as a public

SENATE AMENDMENT Bill No. CS for CS for SB 1132 Amendment No. ___ Barcode 785724 1 adjuster for 24 consecutive months or longer, beginning in 2 their birth month and every 2 years thereafter, must have 3 completed 24 hours of courses, 2 hours of which relate to 4 ethics, in subjects designed to inform the licensee regarding 5 the current laws of this state pertaining to all lines of 6 insurance other than life and annuities, so as to enable him 7 or her to engage in business as an adjuster fairly and without 8 injury to the public and to adjust all claims in accordance 9 with the policy or contract and laws of this state. 10 (c) In order to qualify as an eligible course under 11 this subsection, the course must: 12 1.(a) Have a course outline approved by the 13 department. 14 2.(b) Be taught at a school training facility or other 15 location approved by the department. 16 3.(c) Be taught by instructors with at least 5 years 17 of experience in the area of workers' compensation, general 18 lines of insurance, or other persons approved by the 19 department. However, a member of The Florida Bar is exempt 20 from the 5 years' experience requirement. 21 4.(d) Furnish the attendee a certificate of 22 completion. The course provider shall send a roster to the 23 department in a format prescribed by the department. 24 (d) The Financial Services Commission shall adopt 25 rules necessary to implement and administer the continuing 26 education requirements of this subsection. 27 28 (Redesignate subsequent sections.) 29 30 31 2 4:18 PM 04/28/03 s1132c2c-35k0a
