  1                      A bill to be entitled

  2         An act relating to tourism; amending s.

  3         288.1223, F.S.; increasing the membership of

  4         the Florida Commission on Tourism to include a

  5         representative from the space industry;

  6         amending s. 288.1226, F.S.; increasing the

  7         membership of the board of directors of the

  8         Florida Tourism Industry Marketing Corporation,

  9         to conform; providing an effective date.

11  Be It Enacted by the Legislature of the State of Florida:

12

13         Section 1.  Paragraph (a) of subsection (2) of section

14  288.1223, Florida Statutes, is amended to read:

15         288.1223  Florida Commission on Tourism; creation;

16  purpose; membership.--

17         (2)(a)  The commission shall consist of 17 general

18  tourism-industry-related members appointed by the Governor,

19  subject to confirmation by the Senate, and 12 11 additional

20  tourism-industry-related members, appointed by the Governor,

21  including 3 representatives from the statewide rental car

22  industry, 3 representatives from tourist-related statewide

23  associations, including those that represent hotels,

24  campgrounds, and attractions, 3 representatives from county

25  destination marketing organizations, 1 representative from the

26  cruise industry, and 1 representative from the airline

27  industry, and 1 representative from the space industry, who

28  will each serve for a term of 2 years, the Governor, and 2

29  additional ex officio members, who will serve for a term of 2

30  years, including a member of the Senate appointed by the

31  President of the Senate and a member of the House of

  1  Representatives appointed by the Speaker of the House of

  2  Representatives.

  3         Section 2.  Subsection (4) of section 288.1226, Florida

  4  Statutes, is amended to read:

  5         288.1226  Florida Tourism Industry Marketing

  6  Corporation; use of property; board of directors; duties;

  7  audit.--

  8         (4)  BOARD OF DIRECTORS.--The board of directors of the

  9  corporation shall be composed of 29 28

10  tourism-industry-related members, appointed by the Florida

11  Commission on Tourism from its own membership.  The vice chair

12  of the commission shall serve as chair of the corporation's

13  board of directors.

14         Section 3.  This act shall take effect upon becoming a

15  law.

18                          SENATE SUMMARY

19    Provides for the Governor to appoint a representative
      from the space industry as an additional member of the
20    Florida Commission on Tourism. Provides for the
      appointment of an additional director to the board of the
21    Florida Tourism Industry Marketing Corporation.
