12          An act relating to the local government half-cent sales
13    tax; amending s. 218.62, F.S.; amending the distribution
14    formula for proceeds from the tax; providing for
15    adjustments of distributions subsequent to receipt of
16    certified corrected population information; providing for
17    retroactivity; providing an effective date.

19          Be It Enacted by the Legislature of the State of Florida:
20         
21          Section 1. Section 218.62, Florida Statutes, is amended to
22    read:
23          218.62 Distribution formulas.--
24          (1) Each participating county and municipal government
25    shall receive a proportion of moneys earmarked for distribution
26    within that county.
27          (2) The proportion for each county government shall be
28    computed by dividing the sum of the unincorporated area
29    population plus two-thirds of the incorporated area population
30    by the sum of the total county population plus two-thirds of the
31    incorporated area population.
32          (3) The proportion for each municipal government shall be
33    computed by dividing the population of that municipality by the
34    sum of the total county population plus two-thirds of the
35    incorporated area population.
36          (4) Effective October 1, 2000, the apportionment factors
37    shall, except in the case of error in the population certified
38    pursuant to s. 186.901, remain in effect for the fiscal year.
39    Adjustments to distributions to correct errors shall be made
40    subsequent to receipt of a corrected population certified
41    pursuant to s. 186.901.
42          Section 2. This act shall take effect upon becoming a law
43    and shall apply retroactively to October 1, 2000.
