1 Senate Resolution No. ____
2 A resolution recognizing the continued
3 contribution of Goodwill Industries to the
4 economic base of the State of Florida.

6 WHEREAS, Goodwill Industries is the largest nonprofit
7 provider of employment and training services in this country,
8 and
9 WHEREAS, Goodwill Industries provides employment,
10 job-training, and career services for people with disabilities
11 and for people with other disadvantages, such as welfare
12 dependency, illiteracy, a criminal history, or homelessness,
13 and
14 WHEREAS, in its 101 years of service Goodwill
15 Industries has helped millions of people through its programs
16 and services, and
17 WHEREAS, during the 2002 calendar year, 95,363
18 Floridians participated in the employment and training
19 services of Goodwill Industries, and 23,683 Floridians
20 obtained community employment, and
21 WHEREAS, the Florida Goodwill Association, the
22 organization of nine Goodwill members located throughout the
23 state, has collectively generated $243,758,190 in earnings for
24 people placed in community employment, resulting in a
25 significant contribution to the state's economic base and tax
26 revenues, NOW, THEREFORE,

28 Be It Resolved by the Senate of the State of Florida:

30 That the Florida Senate recognizes the Florida Goodwill
31 Association and commends the organization for its valued

1 programs, which have expanded the opportunities and
2 occupational capabilities of millions of Floridians.
3 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that copies of this resolution,
4 with the Seal of the Senate affixed, be presented to Mr.
5 Dennis Clark, President of the Florida Goodwill Association,
6 as a tangible token of the sentiments of the Florida Senate.
