2	An act relating to public school performance; amending s.
3	1008.34, F.S.; providing funding to a school designated as
4	performance grade category “F”; providing for use of such
5	funds; providing an effective date.

7	Be It Enacted by the Legislature of the State of Florida:

9	Section 1. Subsection (7) of section 1008.34, Florida
10	Statutes, is amended to read:
11	1008.34 School grading system; district performance
12	grade.--
13	(7) PERFORMANCE-BASED FUNDING.--The Legislature may factor
14	in the performance of schools in calculating any performance-
15	based funding policy that is provided for annually in the
16	General Appropriations Act, provided that a school designated as
17	performance grade category “F” shall receive $100 per student
18	for the school year following the year in which it receives such
19	designation, as provided in the General Appropriations Act.
20	These funds shall be used for the purchase or procurement of
21	instructional materials, instructional technology reading
22	teachers, instructional personnel, or services deemed necessary
23	for school improvement.
24	Section 2. This act shall take effect July 1, 2003.
