  1                      A bill to be entitled

  2         An act relating to state purchasing agreements

  3         and construction contracts; providing a popular

  4         name; requiring parties to certain state

  5         contracts or agreements to remit a specified

  6         portion of the contract or agreement price to

  7         the state for specified purposes; providing an

  8         effective date.

10  Be It Enacted by the Legislature of the State of Florida:

12         Section 1.  (1)  This act may be popularly referred to

13  as the "Slosberg-Campbell Sunshine Remittance Act."

14         (2)  Notwithstanding any other provision of law and in

15  addition to any provision of law relating to entering into

16  contracts or purchase agreements with the state, any person or

17  business entity who enters into any contract or purchase

18  agreement with the state to provide services or commodities or

19  to construct any public project shall remit to the state an

20  amount equal to 1 percent of the price under the contract or

21  agreement. The proceeds of such remittance shall be used

22  solely to provide for salaries to hire additional teachers for

23  purposes of Section 1, Article IX of the State Constitution,

24  relating to class size limitations.

25         Section 2.  This act shall take effect upon becoming a

26  law.
