1 Senate Resolution No. ____
2 A resolution commending Pensacola Washington
3 High School senior Brian Claggett for his
4 outstanding accomplishment of achieving a
5 perfect score on the American College Test.

7 WHEREAS, Brian Claggett is an 18-year-old senior at
8 Pensacola Washington High School who has earned a 4.65
9 weighted grade-point average and is a distinguished member of
10 Interact, the Science Club, the National Honor Society, and
11 the varsity tennis team, and
12 WHEREAS, Brian serves as a Senator for the Student
13 Government Association, is captain of the Academic Team, and
14 is a member of the Escambia County Superintendent's Advisory
15 Council, and
16 WHEREAS, Brian was voted "Most Intelligent" by his
17 senior classmates, is a 2003 National Merit Scholarship
18 Semi-Finalist, and has ranked in the top ten of his class in
19 each of his 4 years in high school, and
20 WHEREAS, the first time he took the Scholastic Aptitude
21 Test, otherwise known as the SAT for college admission, Brian
22 scored 1,550 points out of a possible 1,600 points, and
23 WHEREAS, on October 26, 2002, approximately 419,500
24 students throughout the nation, approximately 13,500 of which
25 were in Florida, took the American College Test, otherwise
26 known as the ACT, for college admission, and
27 WHEREAS, Brian was one of only 58 students nationwide,
28 and one of only three in Florida who achieved a perfect score
29 on the American College Test, NOW, THEREFORE,

31 Be It Resolved by the Senate of the State of Florida:

1 That the Florida Senate commends Brian Claggett for his
2 extraordinary academic and extracurricular accomplishments as
3 a student at Pensacola Washington High School and for the
4 outstanding scores he achieved in taking the Scholastic
5 Aptitude Test and the American College Test.
6 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this resolution,
7 with the Seal of the Senate affixed, be presented to Brian
8 Claggett as a tangible token of the sentiments of the Florida
9 Senate.
