11  Senator Wise moved the following amendment:

13         Senate Amendment (with title amendment) 
14         On page 24, between lines 2 and 3,
15  
16  insert:  
17         Section 11.  Section 1003.45, Florida Statutes, is
18  amended to read:
19         1003.45  Permitting study of the Bible and religion;
20  permitting brief meditation period; permitting display of
21  motto.--
22         (1)  The district school board may install in the
23  public schools in the district a secular program of education
24  including, but not limited to, an objective study of the Bible
25  and of religion.
26         (2)  The district school board may provide that a brief
27  period, not to exceed 2 minutes, for the purpose of silent
28  prayer or meditation be set aside at the start of each school
29  day or each school week in the public schools in the district.
30         (3)  Each district school superintendent may provide,
31  upon the request by a resident of the school district, for the

 1  display in a prominent location in each school under his or
 2  her supervision of the motto of the United States of America,
 3  "IN GOD WE TRUST," on an appropriately framed background with
 4  minimum dimensions of 11 inches by 14 inches.

17         prominent location in public schools under
18         certain circumstances;
