1 A bill to be entitled
2         An act relating to the State Risk Management Trust Fund;
3   amending s. 284.01, F.S.; providing construction;
4   requiring the fund to insure the property and leasehold
5   interests of certain hospital districts under certain
6   circumstances; providing an effective date.

8         Be It Enacted by the Legislature of the State of Florida:
9         
10         Section 1. Subsection (1) of section 284.01, Florida
11   Statutes, is amended to read:
12         284.01 State Risk Management Trust Fund; coverages to be
13   provided.--
14         (1) The State Risk Management Trust Fund shall insure
15   those properties designated in subsection (2) which are owned by
16   the state or its agencies, boards, or bureaus against loss from
17   fire, lightning, sinkholes, and hazards customarily insured by
18   extended coverage and loss from the removal of personal property
19   from such properties when endangered by covered perils.For the
20   purposes of this part, a hospital district created by special
21   act that owns or operates one or more hospitals, nursing homes,
22   or other health care facilities shall be considered a state
23   agency and its property and leasehold interests shall be
24   considered owned by the state. The fund shall insure the
25   property or leasehold interests of such a district in the same
26   manner as property and leasehold interests owned by other state
27   agencies, boards, or bureaus, upon the request of such district
28   and payment of the premiums for such insurance.Furthermore, the
29   fund may also insure the State Regional Office Building located
30   in the City of Jacksonville, Duval County, including the parking
31   facility owned by the City of Jacksonville, since such building
32   is jointly owned by the State of Florida and the City of
33   Jacksonville. The City of Jacksonville shall be responsible for
34   the payment of all premiums charged by the fund to insure
35   property owned by the City of Jacksonville. Flood insurance
36   shall be provided for state-owned structures and contents
37   designated in subsection (2) to the extent necessary to meet
38   self-insurance requirements of the National Flood Insurance
39   Program, as prescribed in rules and regulations of the Federal
40   Emergency Management Agency in 44 C.F.R. parts 59, 60, and 74,
41   effective October 1, 1986.
42         Section 2. This act shall take effect July 1, 2003.
