11          An act relating to the State Risk Management Trust Fund;
12    amending s. 284.01, F.S.; providing construction;
13    requiring the fund to insure the property of certain
14    hospital districts under certain circumstances; providing
15    an effective date.

17          Be It Enacted by the Legislature of the State of Florida:
18         
19          Section 1. Subsection (1) of section 284.01, Florida
20    Statutes, is amended to read:
21          284.01 State Risk Management Trust Fund; coverages to be
22    provided.--
23          (1) The State Risk Management Trust Fund shall insure
24    those properties designated in subsection (2) which are owned by
25    the state or its agencies, boards, or bureaus against loss from
26    fire, lightning, sinkholes, and hazards customarily insured by
27    extended coverage and loss from the removal of personal property
28    from such properties when endangered by covered perils. For the
29    purposes of this part, a hospital district created by special
30    act that operates one or more hospitals, nursing homes, or other
31    health care facilities shall be considered a state agency and
32    its property shall be considered owned by the state. The fund
33    shall insure the property of such a district in the same manner
34    as property owned by other state agencies, boards, or bureaus,
35    upon the request of such district and payment of the premiums
36    for such insurance.Furthermore, the fund may also insure the
37    State Regional Office Building located in the City of
38    Jacksonville, Duval County, including the parking facility owned
39    by the City of Jacksonville, since such building is jointly
40    owned by the State of Florida and the City of Jacksonville. The
41    City of Jacksonville shall be responsible for the payment of all
42    premiums charged by the fund to insure property owned by the
43    City of Jacksonville. Flood insurance shall be provided for
44    state-owned structures and contents designated in subsection (2)
45    to the extent necessary to meet self-insurance requirements of
46    the National Flood Insurance Program, as prescribed in rules and
47    regulations of the Federal Emergency Management Agency in 44
48    C.F.R. parts 59, 60, and 74, effective October 1, 1986.
49          Section 2. This act shall take effect July 1, 2003.
