1	A bill to be entitled
2	An act relating to the City of Weston, Broward County;
3	extending and enlarging the corporate limits of the City
4	of Weston to include specific unincorporated lands within
5	said corporate limits; providing an effective date.

7	Be It Enacted by the Legislature of the State of Florida:
8
9	Section 1. The present corporate limits of the City of
10	Weston, Broward County, are hereby extended and enlarged so as
11	to include, in addition to the territory presently within its
12	corporate limits, the area particularly described as follows:
13
14	Portions of Sections 33, 34, 35 and 36, Township 49
15	South, Range 39 East together with a portion of
16	Section 31, Township 49 South, Range 40 East, together
17	with portions of Sections 5 and 6, Township 50 South,
18	Range 40 East all in Broward County, Florida, being
19	more particularly described as follows:

21	BEGINNING at the Northwest corner of said Section 34,
22	Township 49 South range 39 East;

24	THENCE Easterly on the North line of said Section 34
25	to the intersection with a line 60.00 feet
26	Northeasterly of and parallel with the South right-of-
27	way line of the North New River Canal as shown on
28	State of Florida Department of Transportation Right-
29	of-Way Map for State Road 93 (Interstate 75), Section
30	86075-2409, last dated November, 1994, said South
31	right-of-way line also being labeled “Baseline of
32	Survey State Road 84” on said map;

34	THENCE Southeasterly on said parallel line to the
35	intersection with the Southwesterly projection of the
36	South edge of the L-35A Levee;

38	THENCE Northeasterly on said projection to the
39	intersection with the North right-of-way line of the
40	North New River Canal and a corner of the Corporate
41	Limits of the City of Sunrise;

43	THENCE Southeasterly on said North right-of-way line
44	of the North New River Canal and on the South
45	Corporate Limits of the City of Sunrise to the
46	intersection with a line 100.00 feet West of and
47	parallel with the East line of said Section 5,
48	Township 50 South, Range 40 East, said point being the
49	Northwest corner of a parcel of land annexed into the
50	City of Sunrise as established and described in City
51	of Sunrise Ordinance Number 269, recorded in Official
52	Records Book 12802, Page 440 of the Public Records of
53	Broward County, Florida;

55	THENCE Southerly on said parallel line and on the West
56	Corporate Limits of the City of Sunrise as established
57	and described in said Ordinance Number 269 to the
58	intersection with the South right-of-way line of State
59	Road 93 (Interstate 75) and the North Corporate Limits
60	of the City of Weston as established and described in
61	State of Florida Legislature Bill Number 3130;

63	THENCE Northwesterly on said South right-of-way line
64	of State Road 93 (Interstate 75) as shown on Florida
65	Department of Transportation Right-of-Way Maps for
66	State Road 93 (Interstate 75) Section 86075-2409,
67	sheets 1 through 16 and Section 86075-2420, sheet 8
68	and on said North Corporate Limits of the City of
69	Weston to the Northeast corner of a parcel of land
70	annexed into the City of Weston as established and
71	described in State of Florida 1999 Legislature House
72	Bill 1565;

74	THENCE continue Northwesterly on the North Corporate
75	Limits of the City of Weston as established and
76	described in said House Bill 1565 to the intersection
77	with the East right-of-way line of Levee l-37 as shown
78	on South Florida Water Management District Right-of-
79	Way map for Levees L-33 and L-37, Drawing Number L-33-
80	1, sheet 1 of 1;

82	THENCE Northeasterly on said Easterly right-of-way
83	line of Levee 37 to the intersection with the North
84	line of said Section 33, Township 49 South, Range 39
85	East;

87	THENCE Easterly on said North line of Section 33 to
88	said Northwest corner of Section 34, Township 49
89	South, Range 39 East and the POINT OF BEGINNING;

91	Section 2. All public roads and the public rights-of-way
92	associated therewith, on the Broward County road system, lying
93	within the limits of the lands subject to annexation herein, as
94	described in section 1, are transferred from Broward County
95	jurisdiction to the jurisdiction of the annexing municipality,
96	except for county collector roads and all roads within the state
97	highway system and any public rights-of-way associated therewith
98	lying within the annexation area. All rights, title, interests,
99	and responsibilities for any transferred roads, including, but
100	not limited to, the ownership, operation, maintenance, planning,
101	design, and construction of said roads and the rights-of-way
102	associated therewith shall transfer from Broward County
103	jurisdiction and ownership to the jurisdiction and ownership of
104	the annexing municipality upon the effective date of the
105	annexation.
106	Section 3. On the effective date of this act, the City of
107	Weston shall be responsible for and embodied with all municipal
108	powers granted in chapter 166, Florida Statutes, over territory
109	hereby annexed.
110	Section 4. Nothing in this act shall be construed to
111	affect or abrogate the rights of parties to any contracts,
112	whether the same be between Broward County and a third party or
113	between nongovernmental entities, which contracts are in effect
114	prior to the effective date of annexation.
115	Section 5. This act shall take effect September 15, 2003.
