Section 15. (1) The Legislature finds that many of our |
17
|
state's hospitals are incurring millions of dollars in costs for |
18
|
treating uninsured persons.
|
19
|
(2)(a) The Uninsured Task Force is established for the |
20
|
purpose of investigating how to reduce the cost of treating |
21
|
uninsured persons.
|
22
|
(b) The task force shall be comprised of one |
23
|
representative each from:
|

|
1. The Orange County Medical Society.
|
25
|
2. The Florida Academy of Family Practitioners.
|
26
|
3. A faith-based health care provider.
|
27
|
4. A progress health maintenance organization.
|
28
|
5. The Central Florida Partnership on Health Disparities.
|
29
|
6. The Department of Health.
|
30
|
7. The Association of Community Health Centers.
|
31
|
Hospital.
|
32
|
8. The Florida Chamber of Commerce.
|
33
|
9. The Emergency Management Service Organization.
|
34
|
10. Enterprise Florida, Inc.
|
35
|
11. The Florida Hospital Association.
|

|
|

|
The task force shall also include the Chief Financial Officer |

|
for the Broward County Hospital and the Deputy Director of |
39
|
Orange County.
|

|
(c) The task force shall develop innovative solutions for |
41
|
treating the uninsured, reducing the caseloads in the emergency |
42
|
rooms of our hospitals, and streamlining the resources, |
43
|
treatment centers, community health centers, county health |
44
|
clinics, and other health care facilities that treat uninsured |
45
|
persons.
|

|
(3) The task force shall select a chair and shall meet at |
47
|
the call of the chair but at least once each month. Members of |
48
|
the task force shall serve without compensation but shall be |
49
|
entitled to reimbursement for travel and per diem expenses as |
50
|
provided in s. 112.061, Florida Statutes.
|
51
|
(4) The task force shall develop solutions, make |
52
|
recommendations, and report to the President of the Senate and |
53
|
the Speaker of the House of Representatives at the beginning of |
54
|
the 2004 Regular Session. |
