  1                 Senate Joint Resolution No. ____

  2         A joint resolution proposing the amendment of

  3         Section 2 of Article IV of the State

  4         Constitution to authorize the Governor to fill

  5         a vacancy in the office of Lieutenant Governor

  6         for the remainder of the term of office.

  8  Be It Resolved by the Legislature of the State of Florida:

  9

10         That the following amendment to Section 2 of Article IV

11  of the State Constitution is agreed to and shall be submitted

12  to the electors of this state for approval or rejection at the

13  next general election or at an earlier special election

14  specifically authorized by law for that purpose:

15                            ARTICLE IV

16                            EXECUTIVE

17         SECTION 2.  Lieutenant governor; vacancies.--

18         (a)  There shall be a lieutenant governor, who shall

19  perform such duties pertaining to the office of governor as

20  shall be assigned by the governor, except when otherwise

21  provided by law, and such other duties as may be prescribed by

22  law.

23         (b)  The governor shall fill a vacancy in the office of

24  lieutenant governor for the remainder of the term of office.

25         BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the following statement be

26  placed on the ballot:

27                     CONSTITUTIONAL AMENDMENT

28                      ARTICLE IV, SECTION 2

29         LIEUTENANT GOVERNOR VACANCY.--Proposing an amendment to

30  the State Constitution directing the Governor to fill a
