1	A bill to be entitled
2	An act relating to crisis intervention team program study;
3	directing the Louis de la Parte Florida Mental Health
4	Institute at the University of South Florida to conduct a
5	study of the crisis intervention team program being used
6	by the City of Miami; providing purpose of the study;
7	providing for a report; providing an effective date.

9	Be It Enacted by the Legislature of the State of Florida:

11	Section 1. The Louis de la Parte Mental Health Institute
12	at the University of South Florida shall conduct a study of the
13	crisis intervention team program being used by the City of
14	Miami. The purpose of the study shall be to determine the cost-
15	effectiveness of the utilization of the program by other law
16	enforcement agencies. The institute shall submit to the
17	Legislature a report of the findings of its study, which shall
18	include a determination of whether such training should be
19	required as a condition of employment for law enforcement
20	officers, by July 1, 2004.
21	Section 2. This act shall take effect upon becoming a law.
