1	A bill to be entitled
2	An act relating to the Florida Keys Mosquito Control
3	District, Monroe County; amending chapter 2002-346, Laws
4	of Florida; increasing the amount of money which may be
5	borrowed from $150,000 for a period of time not to exceed
6	2 years to $1 million for a period of time not to exceed 5
7	years; providing an effective date.

9	Be It Enacted by the Legislature of the State of Florida:

11	Section 1. Section 5 of chapter 2002-346, Laws of Florida, is
12	amended to read:
13	Section 5. Powers of the board of commissioners.--The
14	board of commissioners shall have all the powers of a body
15	corporate, including the power to sue and be sued as a
16	corporation in said name in any court; to contract; to adopt and
17	use a common seal and alter the same at pleasure; to purchase,
18	hold, lease, and convey such real estate and personal property
19	as a majority of the board may deem proper to carry out the
20	purposes of this act; to prescribe rules and regulations for the
21	marking of such property; to employ a director and such experts,
22	agents, and employees as the board may require; to participate
23	with employees in a group hospitalization insurance plan
24	providing the entire cost of such a plan; to contract and
25	cooperate with county, state, and other governmental agencies in
26	regard to mosquito control or suppression; to borrow money in an
27	amount not to exceed $1 million $150,000for a period of time
28	not to exceed 52years; and to issue negotiable promissory
29	notes and bonds or such necessary instruments to secure said
30	loan to enable it to carry out the provisions of this act.

32	Section 2. This act shall take effect upon becoming a law.
