13         Senate Amendment (with title amendment) 
14         On page 40, lines 1-12,
15          delete those lines

17  and insert:  
18         Section 45.  Paragraphs (h) and (i) of subsection (1)
19  of section 1011.62, Florida Statutes, are amended to read:
20         1011.62  Funds for operation of schools.--If the annual
21  allocation from the Florida Education Finance Program to each
22  district for operation of schools is not determined in the
23  annual appropriations act or the substantive bill implementing
24  the annual appropriations act, it shall be determined as
25  follows:
26         (1)  COMPUTATION OF THE BASIC AMOUNT TO BE INCLUDED FOR
27  OPERATION.--The following procedure shall be followed in
28  determining the annual allocation to each district for
29  operation:
30         (h)  Small, isolated high schools.--Districts that
31  which levy the maximum nonvoted discretionary millage,

Amendment No. ___ Barcode 901530 1 exclusive of millage for capital outlay purposes levied 2 pursuant to s. 1011.71(2), may calculate full-time equivalent 3 students for small, isolated high schools by multiplying the 4 number of unweighted full-time equivalent students times 2.75, 5 if the school has attained a state accountability grade of C 6 or better for the previous year; provided the percentage of 7 students at such school passing both parts of the high school 8 competency test, as defined by law and rule, has been equal to 9 or higher than such percentage for the state or district, 10 whichever is greater. For the purpose of this section, the 11 term "small, isolated high school" means any high school which 12 is located no less than 28 miles by the shortest route from 13 another high school; which has been serving students primarily 14 in basic studies provided by sub-subparagraphs (c)1.b. and c. 15 and may include subparagraph (c)4.; and which has a membership 16 of no more than 100 students, but no fewer than 28 students, 17 in grades 9 through 12. 18 19 20 ================ T I T L E A M E N D M E N T =============== 21 And the title is amended as follows: 22 On page 4, line 26, after the semicolon 23 24 insert: 25 providing that small, isolated high schools may 26 multiply the number of full-time equivalent 27 students if the school has attained a state 28 accountability grade of C or better; 29 30 31 2 6:00 PM 04/23/03 s1772c1c-03t9x
