An act relating to the Manatee County local option sales |

tax; validating all acts and proceedings had and taken in |

connection with the special election held in Manatee |

|
County; authorizing the levy of the one half-cent local |

|
option sales tax in Manatee County for the purpose of |
7
|
providing funds to finance the cost of acquisition, |
8
|
construction, and installation of, and renovation to, |
9
|
certain capital improvements and educational facilities |
10
|
within the District; declaring said special election legal |
11
|
and valid; approving the issuance of sales tax revenue |
12
|
bonds; providing for severability; providing an effective |
13
|
date. |

Be It Enacted by the Legislature of the State of Florida: |

Section 1. All acts and proceedings heretofore had and |
18
|
taken in connection with the special election held in Manatee |
19
|
County on May 21, 2002, including, without limitation, any acts |
20
|
in connection with the notice of such election to authorize the |
21
|
levy of the one half-cent local option sales tax on tangible |
22
|
personal property sold in Manatee County for the purpose of |
23
|
providing funds to finance the cost of acquisition, |
24
|
construction, and installation of, and renovation to, certain |
25
|
capital improvements and educational facilities within the |
26
|
District, are hereby ratified, validated, and confirmed and said |
27
|
special election is hereby declared to be valid and legal in all |
28
|
respects.

Section 2. All acts and proceedings heretofore taken, had, |
30
|
done, and performed by the School Board of Manatee County and by |
31
|
the duly constituted officials of such board, in connection with |
32
|
the authorization and issuance of not to exceed $117,500,000 |
33
|
sales tax revenue bonds of said board, to be paid from the |
34
|
proceeds of the sales tax authorized in said election, are |
35
|
hereby severally ratified, validated, confirmed, and legalized |
36
|
in every respect.

Section 3. If any provision of this act or the application |
38
|
thereof to any person or circumstance is held invalid, the |
39
|
invalidity shall not affect other provisions or applications of |
40
|
this act which can be given effect without the invalid provision |
41
|
or application, and to this end the provisions of this act are |
42
|
declared severable. |

Section 4. This act shall take effect upon becoming a law. |
