(a) The Department of Business and Professional Regulation |
20
|
shall adopt and incorporate by rule the Standards of Practice of |
21
|
the American Society of Home Inspectors in effect on January 1, |
22
|
2003, or any other consensus-based home inspection standard |
23
|
deemed equivalent by the Department of Business and Professional |
24
|
Regulation, including minimum standards required for a home |
25
|
inspector to claim to be a "certified home inspector." Any such |
26
|
standard shall require that a home inspector have experience and |
27
|
have successfully passed an examination regarding home |
28
|
inspections. |

|
(b) In adopting the rules required by this subsection, the |
30
|
department shall consult with representatives of the Florida |
31
|
home inspection industry, the Florida Building Code |
32
|
Administrators and Inspectors Board, the Construction Industry |
33
|
Licensing Board, and the Electrical Contractors' Licensing |
34
|
Board. |

|
(c) The purpose and intent of this subsection is not to |
36
|
create or impose a bureau or other state agency to regulate the |
37
|
affairs of home inspectors. Accordingly, the Department of |
38
|
Business and Professional Regulation shall not license a home |

|
