1 A bill to be entitled
2 An act relating to bridge designations;
3 dedicating the new Rose Bay bridges between the
4 Cities of New Smyrna Beach and Port Orange to
5 honor U.S. military POW's and MIA's; directing
6 the Department of Transportation to erect
7 suitable markers; providing an effective date.

9 WHEREAS, the State of Florida, through the Florida
10 Department of Transportation, is currently reconstructing or
11 building three bridges on U.S. Highway 1, between the Cities
12 of New Smyrna Beach and Port Orange, and
13 WHEREAS, the Cities of New Smyrna Beach and Port Orange
14 have passed resolutions urging the State of Florida to
15 dedicate these new bridges in honor of United States military
16 personnel who are prisoners of war (POW's) or are missing in
17 action (MIA's), and
18 WHEREAS, the Volusia County Metropolitan Planning
19 Organization believes that it is appropriate to so dedicate
20 the new Rose Bay bridges and supports the Cities of New Smyrna
21 Beach and Port Orange in their efforts to do so, NOW,
22 THEREFORE,

24 Be It Enacted by the Legislature of the State of Florida:

26 Section 1. The new Rose Bay bridges on U.S. Highway 1,
27 between the Cities of New Smyrna Beach and Port Orange, are
28 dedicated in honor of United States military personnel who are
29 prisoners of war (POW's) or who are missing in action (MIA's).

1 Section 2. The Department of Transportation is
2 directed to erect suitable markers designating the dedication
3 in honor of POW's and MIA's.
4 Section 3. This act shall take effect upon becoming a
5 law.
