  1                    Senate Resolution No. ____

  2         A resolution commending New College of Florida

  3         for its prominence as a national leader in

  4         undergraduate liberal arts education.

  5  

  6         WHEREAS, New College of Florida has a distinctive

  7  mission in serving as the only public four-year residential

  8  liberal arts honors college in the State of Florida, and

  9         WHEREAS, New College of Florida is the only public

10  liberal arts college and the only institution of higher

11  learning in the state that is named in Barron's Guide to the

12  56 most selective colleges in the United States, and

13         WHEREAS, New College of Florida was recently named by

14  the Princeton Review as one of the best 345 colleges in the

15  United States in 2003, and

16         WHEREAS, Kiplinger's Personal Finance magazine recently

17  ranked New College of Florida the seventh-best value in public

18  higher education in 2003, and

19         WHEREAS, New College of Florida was the only

20  institution of higher learning in Florida named a "Best Buy"

21  by the 2003 Fiske Guide to Colleges, and

22         WHEREAS, New College of Florida is a national leader in

23  the percentage of students who obtain graduate degrees, and

24         WHEREAS, New College of Florida has produced one of the

25  highest per capita percentages of Fulbright Scholars in the

26  nation, NOW, THEREFORE,

28  Be It Resolved by the Senate of the State of Florida:

29  

30         That the Florida Senate commends New College of Florida

31  for demonstrating excellence in higher education and achieving
