2 An act relating to road and bridge
3 designations; designating a portion of
4 Interstate 75 as Purple Heart Memorial Highway;
5 designating Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.,
6 Memorial Highway in Hamilton County;
7 designating Nott Circle Roundabout in Suwannee
8 County; designating the Dr. Martin Luther King,
9 Jr., Memorial Highway in Gadsden County;
10 designating the Jim Deaton Memorial Bridge in
11 Duval County; directing the Department of
12 Transportation to erect suitable markers;
13 providing an effective date.

15 Be It Enacted by the Legislature of the State of Florida:

17 Section 1. Purple Heart Memorial Highway designated;
18 department to erect suitable markers.--
19 (1) That portion of Interstate 75 from the
20 Georgia-Florida state line to the city limits of Ocala in
21 Marion County is hereby designated as "Purple Heart Memorial
22 Highway."
23 (2) The Department of Transportation is directed to
24 erect suitable markers designating Purple Heart Memorial
25 Highway as described in subsection (1).
26 Section 2. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., Memorial
27 Highway designated; department to erect suitable markers.--
28 (1) That portion of U.S. Highway 41 located in White
29 Springs in Hamilton County is hereby designated as "Dr. Martin
30 Luther King, Jr., Memorial Highway."

1 (2) The Department of Transportation is directed to
2 erect suitable markers designating Dr. Martin Luther King,
3 Jr., Memorial Highway as described in subsection (1).
4 Section 3. Nott Circle Roundabout designated;
5 department to erect suitable markers.--
6 (1) The roundabout at State Road 51, Walker Avenue,
7 and County Road 136 located in Live Oak in Suwannee County is
8 hereby designated as "Nott Circle Roundabout."
9 (2) The Department of Transportation is directed to
10 erect suitable markers designating Nott Circle Roundabout as
11 described in subsection (1).
12 Section 4. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., Memorial
13 Highway designated; department to erect suitable markers.--
14 (1) That portion of U.S. Highway 27 (State Road 63)
15 inside the city limits of Havana in Gadsden County is hereby
16 designated as the "Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., Memorial
17 Highway."
18 (2) The Department of Transportation is directed to
19 erect two memorial signs at the north and south ends of the
20 city limits designating Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., Memorial
21 Highway as described in subsection (1).
22 Section 5. Jim Deaton Memorial Bridge designated;
23 markers.--
24 (1) The northbound and southbound spans of the Cedar
25 River Bridge (bridge designations 720325 and 720326) on State
26 Road 21 in Duval County are hereby collectively designated the
27 "Jim Deaton Memorial Bridge."
28 (2) The Department of Transportation is directed to
29 erect suitable markers designating the Jim Deaton Memorial
30 Bridge as described in subsection (1).

1 Section 6. This act shall take effect upon becoming a
2 law.

4 STATEMENT OF SUBSTANTIAL CHANGES CONTAINED IN
COMMITTEE SUBSTITUTE FOR
5 Senate Bill 1994

7 The CS provides for the following road and bridge
designations:

U.S. Highway 27 (State Road 63) inside the city limits of
9 Havana in Gadsden County is designated as the "Dr. Martin
Luther King, Jr., Memorial Highway."

The northbound and southbound spans of the Cedar River Bridge
11 (bridge designations 720325 and 720326) on State Road 21 in
Duval County are collectively designated as the "Jim Deaton
12 Memorial Highway."
13 Also, the CS provides a Government Sector Impact requiring
FDOT to incur an additional cost of approximately $1,600 for
14 erecting markers for the above designations. This is based on
the assumption that 4 markers will be erected at a cost of
15 $400 per marker.
