| 1 | A bill to be entitled | ||
| 2 | An act relating to state purchasing agreements and | ||
| 3 | construction contracts; providing a popular name; | ||
| 4 | requiring parties to certain state contracts or agreements | ||
| 5 | to remit a specified portion of the contract or agreement | ||
| 6 | price to the state for specified purposes; providing an | ||
| 7 | effective date. | ||

| 9 | Be It Enacted by the Legislature of the State of Florida: | ||
| 10 | |||
| 11 | Section 1.(1) This act may be popularly referred to as | ||
| 12 | the “Slosberg Sunshine Remittance Act.” | ||
| 13 | (2) Notwithstanding any other provision of law and in | ||
| 14 | addition to any provision of law relating to entering into | ||
| 15 | contracts or purchase agreements with the state, any person or | ||
| 16 | business entity who enters into any contract or purchase | ||
| 17 | agreement with the state to provide services or commodities or | ||
| 18 | to construct any public project shall remit to the state an | ||
| 19 | amount equal to 0.5 percent of the price under the contract or | ||
| 20 | agreement. The proceeds of such remittance shall be used solely | ||
| 21 | to provide for salaries to hire additional teachers for purposes | ||
| 22 | of s. 1, Art. IX of the State Constitution, relating to class | ||
| 23 | size limitations. | ||
| 24 | Section 2. This act shall take effect upon becoming a law. | ||
