11  The Committee on Commerce, Economic Opportunities, and
12  Consumer Services recommended the following amendment:
13  
14         Senate Amendment (with title amendment) 
15         On page 1, between lines 23 and 24,
16  
17  insert:  
18         Section 2.  Enterprise zone designation for Escambia
19  County.--Escambia County may apply to the Office of Tourism,
20  Trade, and Economic Development for designation of one
21  enterprise zone within the county encompassing an area which
22  shall not exceed 20 square miles and shall have a contiguous
23  boundary or shall consist of not more than three noncontiguous
24  areas. The application must be submitted by December 31, 2003,
25  and must comply with the requirements of section 290.0055,
26  Florida Statutes, except section 290.0055(3), Florida
27  Statutes. Notwithstanding the provisions of section 290.0065,
28  Florida Statutes, limiting the total number of enterprise
29  zones designated and the number of enterprise zones within a
30  population category, the Office of Tourism, Trade, and
31  Economic Development may designate one enterprise zone under

 1  this section. The Office of Tourism, Trade, and Economic
 2  Development shall establish the initial effective date of the
 3  enterprise zone designated pursuant to this section.
