  1                      A bill to be entitled

  2         An act relating to education; requiring each

  3         school district to employ a psychologist and a

  4         social worker for each elementary and secondary

  5         school in the district; providing an

  6         appropriation; providing an effective date.

  8  Be It Enacted by the Legislature of the State of Florida:

  9  

10         Section 1.  Beginning with the 2003-2004 school year

11  and thereafter, each school district must employ a

12  psychologist licensed under chapter 490, Florida Statutes, and

13  a social worker licensed under chapter 491, Florida Statutes,

14  for each elementary and secondary school in the district. The

15  psychologist and social worker shall be available to counsel

16  students during regular school hours.

17         Section 2.  The sum of $_______ is appropriated from

18  the General Revenue Fund to the district school boards for the

19  purpose of carrying out this act during the 2003-2004 fiscal

20  year.

21         Section 3.  This act shall take effect upon becoming a

22  law.
