11 Senator Dockery moved the following amendment:

13 Senate Amendment (with title amendment)
14 On page 16, between lines 23 and 24,

16 insert:
17 Section 10. Subsection (5) of section 373.079, Florida
18 Statutes, is amended to read:
19 373.079 Members of governing board; oath of office;
20 staff.--
21 (5) The executive director governing board may employ
22 a legal staff for the purposes of:
23 (a) Providing legal counsel to the governing board on
24 matters relating to the exercise of its powers and duties and
25 to the executive director and district staff on matters
26 relating to the day-to-day operations of the district;
27 (b) Representing the district it in all proceedings of
28 an administrative or judicial nature; and
29 (c) Otherwise assisting in the administration of the
30 provisions of this chapter.
