  1                      A bill to be entitled

  2         An act relating to elections; requiring a

  3         certain number of polling places to open at

  4         least 1 week before each election for early

  5         absentee voting; providing an effective date.

  6  

  7         WHEREAS, the Governor's Select Task Force on Election

  8  Procedures, Standards, & Technology recommended that the

  9  Legislature should "enhance opportunities for efficient and

10  convenient early voting and absentee voting" while

11  establishing minimum standards for how county supervisors of

12  elections conduct the same election, NOW, THEREFORE,

13  

14  Be It Enacted by the Legislature of the State of Florida:

15  

16         Section 1.  Five percent of the polling places in each

17  county must be opened for early absentee voting at least 1

18  week before each general election and each primary election.

19  The supervisor of elections shall select the polling places to

20  be opened to maximize accessibility for electors.

21         Section 2.  This act shall take effect upon becoming a

22  law.
