1 A bill to be entitled
2 An act relating to postsecondary feedback of
3 information to high schools; amending s.
4 1008.37, F.S.; requiring each postsecondary
5 educational institution periodically to
6 electronically transmit to each district school
7 board a report of the academic performance of
8 each student enrolled in that institution who
9 graduated from high school in that district;
10 providing for rulemaking; providing an
11 effective date.

13 Be It Enacted by the Legislature of the State of Florida:

15 Section 1. Subsection (6) is added to section 1008.37,
16 Florida Statutes, to read:
17 1008.37 Postsecondary feedback of information to high
18 schools.--
19 (6) Each public postsecondary educational institution
20 in this state shall, each semester, electronically provide to
21 each district school board in this state information about the
22 college grades and performance of each student enrolled in
23 that educational institution who graduated from high school in
24 that district. The purpose of this report is to provide each
25 school district with information that can be used to evaluate
26 how well the instructional programs in that district have
27 prepared students for postsecondary education. The information
28 that must be electronically transmitted from each educational
29 institution to the appropriate school district must include
30 data elements that are already gathered at the postsecondary
31 level, including, but not limited to, the individual student's

1 first and second major courses of study and minor courses, if
2 applicable; cumulative grade point average; cumulative credits
3 attempted and earned; and degree earned. The State Board of
4 Education shall adopt rules necessary to administer this
5 subsection.
6 Section 2. This act shall take effect July 1, 2003.
