2 An act relating to enterprise zones; creating
3 s. 290.00679, F.S.; authorizing the amendment
4 of the boundaries of certain rural enterprise
5 zones after recommendation of Enterprise
6 Florida, Inc., and upon recommendation of the
7 local development agency; providing an
8 effective date.

10 Be It Enacted by the Legislature of the State of Florida:

12 Section 1. Section 290.00679, Florida Statutes, is
13 created to read:
14 290.00679 Amendment to certain rural enterprise zone
15 boundaries.--Notwithstanding any other law, upon
16 recommendation by Enterprise Florida, Inc., the Office of
17 Tourism, Trade, and Economic Development may approve requests
18 to amend the boundaries of rural enterprise zones as defined
19 in s. 290.004(8). Boundary amendments authorized by this
20 section are subject to the following requirements:
21 (1) The amendment may increase the size of the rural
22 enterprise zone up to a maximum zone size of 20 square miles.
23 (2) For purposes of this section, the pervasive
24 poverty criterion may be set aside.
25 (3) The local enterprise zone development agency must
26 request the amendment from Enterprise Florida, Inc., before
27 December 31, 2003. The request must contain maps and
28 sufficient information to allow the office to determine the
29 total size of the rural enterprise zone.
30 Section 2. This act shall take effect upon becoming a
31 law.

2 SENATE SUMMARY
3 Authorizes the Office of Tourism, Trade, and Economic
Development to approve requests to amend the boundaries
4 of rural enterprise zones meeting specified criteria when
the local development agencies request the amendment from
5 Enterprise Florida, Inc., and that entity thereafter
recommends the amendments.
