2 A resolution supporting American and coalition
3 forces in "Operation Iraqi Freedom."

5 WHEREAS, the men and women of our Armed Forces find
6 themselves once again engaged on foreign soil, and
7 WHEREAS, members of the Armed Forces from Florida
8 include career military professionals, reservists, volunteers,
9 and civilian-soldiers of the Florida National Guard, and
10 WHEREAS, the United States Central Command, which is
11 headquartered at MacDill Air Force Base in Tampa, has command
12 and operational control of the forces currently active in the
13 Middle East, and
14 WHEREAS, 5,366 reservists from communities all across
15 the state have left their families, friends, and jobs to serve
16 on active duty in all the service branches, and
17 WHEREAS, the Florida Army and Air National Guard has to
18 date activated 5,183 men and women who must also leave their
19 families and communities to apply their part-time military
20 training in front line and support positions, and
21 WHEREAS, it is fitting and proper that we pause to
22 recognize these men and women and their fellow soldiers from
23 across America for their professional excellence, their
24 dedicated patriotism, and their exemplary courage, and
25 WHEREAS, we express our sincere gratitude to the
26 families of our military personnel for their dedication to
27 country during this time of separation from loved ones, and
28 WHEREAS, we express also our great pride and enduring
29 support for our men and women of the Armed Forces as they
30 respond to the call to duty and courageously answer their
31 country's call to serve, NOW, THEREFORE,

1 Be It Resolved by the Senate of the State of Florida:

3 That this legislative body proudly honors and supports
4 the men and women of our Armed Forces for their valor,
5 unselfish sacrifices, and dedication to duty, and pays tribute
6 to them on behalf of this state and the people of Florida.
