  1                    Senate Resolution No. ____

  2         A resolution recognizing Sunday, July 27, 2003,

  3         as "Parents' Day" in Florida.

  4  

  5         WHEREAS, every child deserves a home with parents who

  6  provide strength and security undergirded by love, support,

  7  and guidance, and

  8         WHEREAS, although parenting is all too often regarded

  9  as mundane, its importance in the life of a child cannot be

10  overemphasized, and

11         WHEREAS, childrearing holds a place in society that is

12  perhaps unmatched by any other role or vocation to which one

13  might aspire, NOW, THEREFORE,

14  

15  Be It Resolved by the Senate of the State of Florida:

16  

17         That the Senate pauses in its deliberations to

18  recognize the vital place that parenting holds in the life of

19  a child and in the whole of society and to recognize Sunday,

20  July 27, 2003, as "Parents' Day" in Florida.

21         BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that all citizens,

22  organizations, and governmental entities throughout the state

23  are urged to publicly recognize parents in their most worthy

24  role as nurturing rearers of children.
