  1                      A bill to be entitled

  2         An act relating to the Florida Keys Mosquito

  3         Control District, Monroe County; amending

  4         chapter 2002-346, Laws of Florida; authorizing

  5         the district to make purchases up to the limit

  6         in s. 287.017(1)(a), F.S., without formal bids;

  7         providing an effective date.

  9  Be It Enacted by the Legislature of the State of Florida:

10  

11         Section 1.  Section 14 of chapter 2002-346, Laws of

12  Florida, is amended to read:

13         Section 14.  Director; advertisement of contracts.--All

14  work done under the provisions of this act, both in

15  construction and maintenance, shall be carried on under the

16  supervision of a competent entomologist, or person qualified

17  under the provisions of chapter 388, Florida Statutes, to be

18  employed by the board. The board may contract and purchase

19  property or equipment without formal bids in any amount not to

20  exceed the limit set forth in section 287.017(1)(a), Florida

21  Statutes, as it may be amended from time to time $4,000. All

22  contracts or purchases in excess of this limit $4,000 shall be

23  by competitive, sealed bids, after advertisement, pursuant to

24  rules and regulations established by the board. In the event

25  section 287.017(1)(a), Florida Statutes, is repealed and its

26  provisions are not recodified elsewhere in the Florida

27  Statutes, the limit in effect prior to the repeal shall apply

28  to the district.

29         Section 2.  This act shall take effect upon becoming a

30  law.
