  1                      A bill to be entitled

  2         An act relating to Levy County; amending ch.

  3         98-473, Laws of Florida, relating to the Cedar

  4         Key Water and Sewer District; repealing a

  5         provision relating to bids for contracts;

  6         providing an effective date.

  8  Be It Enacted by the Legislature of the State of Florida:

  9  

10         Section 1.  Section 10 of chapter 98-473, Laws of

11  Florida, is amended to read:

12         Section 10.  Reserved.  (a) All work done by the

13  District in the construction, reconstruction, improvement, or

14  enlargement of the water supply and distribution system or

15  sewage system involving the expenditures of more than $1,000,

16  except for the purchase of the chemicals and supplies for

17  water and sewage treatment for which the consideration

18  involved does not exceed $1,500, shall be done by contract

19  entered into following advertisement for bids received on a

20  stated date pursuant to notice for sealed bids published at

21  least once each week for 2 consecutive weeks in a newspaper of

22  general circulation among contractors in the state. All such

23  contracts shall be secured by a performance bond in an amount

24  not less than 80 percent of the contract price, furnished by a

25  surety company or companies authorized to do business in the

26  state.

27         Section 2.  This act shall take effect upon becoming a

28  law.
