2 A resolution recognizing and commending the
3 mission and performances of "Feed the
4 Children."

6 WHEREAS, "Feed the Children," a nonprofit, Christian,
7 charitable organization, was founded to provide physical,
8 spiritual, educational, vocational, technical, psychological,
9 economic, and medical assistance to children, families, and
10 persons in need in the United States and internationally, and
11 WHEREAS, in its 24-year history, "Feed the Children"
12 has developed one of the world's largest private organizations
13 dedicated to feeding hungry people, last year shipping 63
14 million pounds of food and 24 million pounds of other
15 essentials to children and families in all 50 states and in
16 111 foreign countries, and supplementing 484,453 meals per day
17 worldwide, and
18 WHEREAS, "Feed the Children" consists of four
19 components: providing food to hungry people; assisting
20 undereducated and untrained people in obtaining education and
21 training for personal development and self-help; providing
22 medical care and treatment to people who are without the means
23 to obtain such care and treatment; and providing emergency
24 relief to people victimized by natural disaster, and
25 WHEREAS, a key goal of "Feed the Children" is to help
26 needy families move beyond relief assistance and become
27 productive, self-sufficient members of their communities, and
28 WHEREAS, "Feed the Children" is now providing the
29 resources needed by families of the thousands of men and women
30 who are deployed overseas for involvement in the war against
31 terrorism, NOW, THEREFORE,

1 Be It Resolved by the Senate of the State of Florida:

3 That the Florida Senate recognizes the invaluable
4 humanitarian aid provided by "Feed the Children" to people all
5 over the world, and commends the organization for the vital
6 role it is playing in supporting the families of the thousands
7 of men and women who are deployed overseas in the war against
8 terrorism.
