2 A resolution commending the Gulf Coast
3 Community College Lady Commodores Basketball
4 Team.

6 WHEREAS, the Gulf Coast Community College Ladies
7 basketball program finished the 2003 regular season with an
8 undefeated record of 35-0, and
9 WHEREAS, each year there is a state and national
10 championship to determine which basketball team is the best in
11 its division, and
12 WHEREAS, the Gulf Coast Community College Lady
13 Commodores won the Region VIII State Championship by defeating
14 Okaloosa-Walton Community College, and thus qualifying the
15 "Dores" for the National Junior College Athletic Association
16 National Tournament, and
17 WHEREAS, the Lady Commodores defeated Western Nebraska
18 in the NJCAA National Championship game to claim the Title of
19 Division I National Champions, and
20 WHEREAS, the team consists of Tasha Phillips, Tracy
21 Jacobs, Anedra Gilmore, Tanesheia Thompson, Milan Cary,
22 Vernette Skeete, Marla Harrell, Natashia Morehead, Katrina
23 Martello, Tiffany Stansbury, Alexis Jackson, Malin Andersson,
24 Stevenique Richardson, and Dovile Gulbinaite, and
25 WHEREAS, the Lady Commodores coaches, Roonie Scovel and
26 assistant coach Grover Hicks, have consistently demonstrated
27 the ability to work together to accomplish the team's goals,
28 and
29 WHEREAS, it is fitting and appropriate that the Florida
30 Senate commend the Gulf Coast Community College Ladies

4 Be It Resolved by the Senate of the State of Florida:

6 That the Florida Senate pauses in it deliberations to
7 commend the Gulf Coast Community College Ladies Basketball
8 Team for its extraordinary accomplishments as both State and
9 National Champions.
