| 8 | of fingerprints; requiring personnel to be subject to | ||
| 9 | state and federal rules and regulations; providing an | ||
| 10 | effective date. | ||

| 12 | Be It Enacted by the Legislature of the State of Florida: | ||
| 13 | |||
| 14 | Section 1. Paragraph (a) of subsection (12) of section | ||
| 15 | 1002.33, Florida Statutes, is amended to read: | ||
| 16 | 1002.33 Charter schools.-- | ||
| 17 | (12) EMPLOYEES OF CHARTER SCHOOLS.-- | ||
| 18 | (a) A charter school shall select its own employees. A | ||
| 19 | charter school may contract with its sponsor for the services of | ||
| 20 | personnel employed by the sponsor.Charter school personnel | ||
| 21 | shall be subject to state and federal rules and regulations that | ||
| 22 | govern public school personnel. | ||
| 23 | Section 2. Section 1012.47, Florida Statutes, is created | ||
| 24 | to read: | ||
| 25 | 1012.47 Employment of alternative school personnel.--All | ||
| 26 | instructional and noninstructional personnel who are hired to | ||
| 27 | fill positions requiring direct contact with students in an | ||
| 28 | alternative school that operates under contract with a district | ||
| 29 | school system shall, upon employment and according to conditions | ||
| 30 | of the contract, file a complete set of fingerprints as required | ||
| 31 | in s. 1012.32. Such personnel shall be subject to state and | ||
| 32 | federal rules and regulations that govern public school | ||
| 33 | personnel. | ||
| 34 | Section 3. This act shall take effect July 1, 2003. | ||
