1	A bill to be entitled
2	An act relating to drug prescriptions; creating s. 456.42,
3	F.S; requiring written drug prescriptions to be legibly
4	typed or printed, to contain certain information, and to
5	be signed and dated by the prescribing practitioner on the
6	day issued; providing an effective date.

8	Be It Enacted by the Legislature of the State of Florida:

10	Section 1. Section 456.42, Florida Statutes, is created to
11	read:
12	456.42 Written prescriptions for medicinal drugs.--A
13	written prescription for a medicinal drug issued by a health
14	care practitioner licensed by law to prescribe such drug must be
15	legibly printed or typed; must contain the name of the
16	prescribing practitioner, the name of the patient, and the name
17	of the drug prescribed and its strength, quantity, and
18	directions for use; and must be dated and signed by the
19	prescribing practitioner on the day when issued.
20	Section 2. This act shall take effect July 1, 2003.
