  1                    Senate Resolution No. ____

  2         A resolution recognizing and commending the

  3         Cape Coral Babe Ruth 9-Year-Old Baseball Team

  4         on winning 2002 State and National Regional

  5         Babe Ruth 9-Year-Old baseball tournaments.

  6  

  7         WHEREAS, on July 8, 2002, the Cape Coral, Florida, Babe

  8  Ruth 9-Year-Old Baseball Team won the 2002 State Babe Ruth

  9  9-Year-Old Baseball Tournament Championship game and became

10  the first Coral Springs Babe Ruth Baseball Team at any level

11  to win a state baseball championship in the 30-year history of

12  the league, and

13         WHEREAS, on July 22, 2002, the Cape Coral, Florida,

14  Babe Ruth 9-Year-Old Baseball Team won the 2002 National

15  Regional Babe Ruth 9-Year-Old Baseball Tournament Championship

16  game in Kinston, North Carolina, and

17         WHEREAS, the Manager of the Cape Coral, Florida, Babe

18  Ruth 9-Year-Old Baseball Team is Ronnie Brown, the coaches of

19  the team are Chuck Cavanaugh and Todd Manka, and the members

20  of the Team are Bryan Bosworth, Scott Bosworth, Logan Brown,

21  Kevin Cavanaugh, Ryan Gage, Cree Johnson, Michael King, Wade

22  Lynch, Ryno Manka, Stanley Padfield, D. J. Schleicher, and

23  Derek Singh, and

24         WHEREAS, the team's outstanding accomplishments in

25  baseball competition bring distinctive honor to the State of

26  Florida and its citizens, especially those who reside in Cape

27  Coral and Lee County, by exemplifying the competitive

28  excellence a group of young men can attain by combining their

29  skills and strengths, and disciplining themselves to excel in

30  playing the game of baseball, NOW, THEREFORE,

 1  Be It Resolved by the Senate of the State of Florida:

 2  

 3         That the Florida Senate recognizes and commends the

 4  accomplishments of the Cape Coral Babe Ruth 9-Year-Old

 5  Baseball Team in winning the 2002 State Babe Ruth 9-Year-Old

 6  Baseball Tournament Championship game, becoming the first

 7  Coral Springs Babe Ruth Baseball Team at any level to win a

 8  state baseball championship in the 30-year history of the

 9  league, and in winning the 2002 National Regional Babe Ruth

10  9-Year-Old Baseball Tournament Championship game.

11         BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this resolution,

12  with the Seal of the Senate affixed, be presented to the 2002

13  Coral Springs, Florida, Babe Ruth 9-Year-Old Baseball Team as

14  a tangible token of the sentiments of the Florida Senate.
