  1                    Senate Resolution No. ____

  2         A resolution recognizing and commending the

  3         Southwest Florida Silver Hawks for becoming the

  4         2002 Amateur Athletic Union 15 and Under

  5         Division II Baseball National Champions.

  6  

  7         WHEREAS, the 2002 Southwest Florida Silver Hawks is an

  8  Amateur Athletic Union baseball team made up of young men who

  9  are 15 years of age or younger, and

10         WHEREAS, the coaches of the team are Donna Coleman,

11  Mark Lennox, and Mark Waller, and the members of the team are

12  Casey Coleman, Justin Green, Bobby Gross, T. C. Halvorsen, Ray

13  King, Jason Koza, Mark Lennox, Anthony Nieves, Joshua

14  Upchurch, Joe Vacca, John Vacca, and Todd Waller, and

15         WHEREAS, the team recently participated in and won the

16  2002 Amateur Athletic Union 15 and under Division II Baseball

17  National Championship Tournament at Disney's Wide World of

18  Sports Complex, achieving an overall team batting average of

19  .374 in defeating all nine of the teams it opposed by a

20  combined score of 83-36, and becoming the 2002 Amateur

21  Athletic Union 15 and Under Division II Baseball National

22  Champions, and

23         WHEREAS, the team's accomplishments in winning the 2002

24  Amateur Athletic Union 15 and Under Division II Baseball

25  National Championship Tournament brings distinctive honor to

26  the State of Florida and its citizens, especially those who

27  reside in Southwest Florida, by exemplifying the competitive

28  excellence a group of young men can attain by combining their

29  talents and disciplining themselves to work together toward

30  achieving success in playing the game of baseball, NOW,

31  THEREFORE,

 1  Be It Resolved by the Senate of the State of Florida:

 2  

 3         That the Florida Senate recognizes and commends the

 4  Southwest Florida Silver Hawks Baseball Team for its

 5  outstanding accomplishments in becoming the 2002 Amateur

 6  Athletic Union 15 and Under Division II Baseball National

 7  Champions.

 8         BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this resolution,

 9  with the Seal of the Senate affixed, be presented to the

10  Southwest Florida Silver Hawks Baseball Team as a tangible

11  token of the sentiments of the Florida Senate.
