  1                    Senate Resolution No. ____

  2         A resolution recognizing and commending the

  3         Florida Heat/Nave Plumbing Slow-Pitch Softball

  4         Team for winning three world titles in 2002

  5         amateur slow-pitch softball competition.

  6  

  7         WHEREAS, the Florida Heat/Nave Plumbing Slow-Pitch

  8  Softball Team is based in Sanibel, Florida, and is made up

  9  principally of players who reside in Lee and Collier counties,

10  and

11         WHEREAS, the team, in August and September 2002,

12  competed in and won a world title in three separate

13  championship slow-pitch softball tournaments, the first

14  sponsored by the Independent Softball Association in Anderson,

15  South Carolina, where the team won a Class AA World Title; the

16  second sponsored by the United States Slow-pitch Softball

17  Association in Shawnee Mission, Kansas, where the team won a

18  Class A World Title; and the third sponsored by the

19  Independent Softball Association in Winter Haven, Florida,

20  where the team won a Class A World Title, and

21         WHEREAS, the championship performances of the team are

22  unprecedented in the world of amateur slow-pitch softball

23  because no amateur slow-pitch softball team has ever won and

24  contemporaneously held three world titles in a single year of

25  competition, and

26         WHEREAS, the team's 2002 accomplishments in amateur

27  slow-pitch softball competition bring distinctive honor to the

28  State of Florida and its citizens, especially those who reside

29  in Lee and Collier counties, by exemplifying the superlative

30  status a group of individuals can attain by combining their

 1  talents and committing themselves in work to excel in playing

 2  the sport of amateur slow-pitch softball, NOW, THEREFORE,

 3  

 4  Be It Resolved by the Senate of the State of Florida:

 5  

 6         That the Florida Senate recognizes and commends the

 7  Florida Heat/Nave Plumbing Slow-Pitch Softball Team for

 8  accomplishing the unprecedented feat of winning a world title

 9  in three separate championship amateur slow-pitch softball

10  tournaments in 2002, and now contemporaneously holding three

11  world titles in amateur slow-pitch softball competition.

12         BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this resolution,

13  with the Seal of the Senate affixed, be presented to the

14  Florida Heat/Nave Plumbing Slow-Pitch Softball Team as a

15  tangible token of the sentiments of the Florida Senate.
