  1                      A bill to be entitled

  2         An act relating to the interdistrict transfer

  3         and use of water; amending s. 373.2295, F.S.;

  4         redefining the term "interdistrict transfer and

  5         use"; validating and providing continued effect

  6         of agreements between water management

  7         districts which were entered into before the

  8         effective date of the act; providing an

  9         effective date.

11  Be It Enacted by the Legislature of the State of Florida:

12  

13         Section 1.  Subsection (1) of section 373.2295, Florida

14  Statutes, is amended to read:

15         373.2295  Interdistrict transfers of groundwater.--

16         (1)  As used in this section, the term "interdistrict

17  transfer and use" means a consumptive water use that which

18  involves the withdrawal of groundwater from a point within one

19  water management district for use outside the boundaries of

20  that district, but does not include a withdrawal and use

21  within the same county.

22         Section 2.  Any agreements between water management

23  districts entered into before the effective date of this act

24  pursuant to section 373.046, Florida Statutes, authorizing the

25  issuance of permits for the interdistrict withdrawal and use

26  of water within a county are validated and shall continue in

27  effect until otherwise rescinded.

28         Section 3.  This act shall take effect upon becoming a

29  law.

                       COMMITTEE SUBSTITUTE FOR
 2                            CS/SB 554

 4  The Committee Substitute validates any agreements between
    water management districts entered into before the effective
 5  date of this act pursuant to s. 373.046, F.S., authorizing the
    issuance of permits for the interdistrict withdrawal and use
 6  of water within a county.
