13 Senate Amendment (with title amendment)
14 On page 1, lines 10-14, delete those lines
15
16 and insert:
17 That the following amendments of Section 4 of Article
18 VI and Section 4 of Article IX of the State Constitution are
19 agreed to and shall be submitted to the electors of this state
20 for approval or rejection at the next general election or at
21 an earlier special election specifically authorized by law for
22 that purpose:
23 ARTICLE VI
24 SUFFRAGE AND ELECTIONS
25 SECTION 4. Disqualifications.--
26 (a) No person convicted of a felony, or adjudicated in
27 this or any other state to be mentally incompetent, shall be
28 qualified to vote or hold office until restoration of civil
29 rights or removal of disability.
30 (b) No person may appear on the ballot for re-election
31 to any of the following offices:

1 (1) Florida representative,
2 (2) Florida senator,
3 (1)(3) Florida Lieutenant governor,
4 (2)(4) any office of the Florida cabinet,
5 (3)(5) U.S. Representative from Florida, or
6 (4)(6) U.S. Senator from Florida

8 if, by the end of the current term of office, the person will
9 have served (or, but for resignation, would have served) in
10 that office for eight consecutive years.
11 (c) No person may appear on the ballot for re-election
12 to any of the following offices:
13 (1) Florida representative, or
14 (2) Florida senator
15
16 if, by the end of the current term of office, the person will
17 have served (or, but for resignation, would have served) in
18 that office for twelve consecutive years. Any person serving
19 in any such office on the effective date of this subsection
20 may not serve more than twelve consecutive years in that
21 office.

26 On page 1, lines 3-6, delete those lines

28 and insert:
29 Section 4 of Article VI and Section 4 of
30 Article IX of the State Constitution to provide
31 12-year limits on specified elective offices.
